NEYT STUDENT
Being involved in the New England Youth Theater has really encouraged me to unfold and blossom into my true self. Stepping on the stage has helped to boost my confidence in ways that stand out from other extra-curricular activities. I used to be really shy and I never put myself out there. But NEYT has helped me find my voice, speak up for others and myself, and be part of a bonding community. I have been acting at the New England Youth Theater for nine years now and NEYT feels like my second home. In the future, I really want to go to NYU and study acting and musical theater.
There is so much about NEYT that I cherish. I cherish the upbeat personalities and the new skills that I learn every show in dancing, singing, and acting. When I walk into the building, I feel a sense of comfort as everyone comes and greets me. At NEYT, we work a lot on character work. Figuring out your character is very important to any actor no matter how big or small the part is. Not only can you act at NEYT, you can also do costuming, work on the set, and do the tech work. There is so much that goes into a show and the feeling of everyone working together is one of the best feelings. If the New England Youth Theater wasn’t in my life, I definitely wouldn't be as confident and as courageous to try new things.
