Graham Christian
Graham Christian came to the area to write a doctoral dissertation and dance, not necessarily in that order; the dissertation is complete, but the dance goes on. He has also choreographed or directed a double handful of operas, operettas, and plays, including Carmen, The Pirates of Penzance, Patience, The Lion in Winter, and Brigadoon. He has taught dance all across the country, and is the author of The Playford Assembly, a major anthology of historical dances. As a musician, he is the co-creator, with soprano Libby Maxey, of a long-running series of art song concerts, Songs and Serenades, as well as music directing several regional musical productions, including Cabaret, RENT, Into the Woods, The Rocky Horror Show, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and Mary Poppins. He made his NEYT debut in the pit of Oliver! and is happy to return.
