Shakespeare Unrehearsed: As You Like It

presented by the  NEYT Alumni Association, Directed by James Gelter
Jan. 4-5

The New England Youth Theatre Alumni Association is pleased to announce
their 4th Annual Shakespeare Unrehearsed fundraiser for NEYT's "Angel in
the Wings" scholarship fund. This year years offering will be
Shakespeare's pastoral comedy *As You Like It*. The play tells the story
of Rosalind, a young beauty who flees from her treacherous Uncle's court
with the help of her cousin Celia and their faithful jester. As they
journey through the tranquil Forest of Arden, the trio stumble across
strange philosophies, hidden strengths, and love.

NEYT Alumni actors old and new return to the Brattleboro stage to explore
the world of Shakespeare’s rich wordplay, imagery, and wit. Inspired by
the Elizabethan-era process of theatrical production, the alumni will be
performing the show with no more than 10 hours of rehearsal.
In Shakespeare’s day, rigorous performance schedules and reliance on
sunlight allowed for precious little rehearsal time: actors would perform
one show per day, six days a week. With such little time, actors must dive
in headfirst, creating energetic, mad-cap, and surprising performance.

Shows will be at 7PM on January 4th and 2PM on January 5th. Tickets are
only available at the door for a suggested donation of $10 - payment by
cash or check only. All proceeds will be donated to NEYT’s “Angels in the
Wings” scholarship fund.
