Enchantment: An Original Tale
presented by Theatre Adventure
April 11&12

It all began with a name, a costume, a gesture, a voice.

Last Fall each Theatre Adventure student chose a character, any character from any time or realm. They chose costumes in order to “wear” their character, or step-into their character. They developed movements for breathing life into the character of choice. And finally, they wrote a little bit of a story, a snippet, a shtick about each character.

Thus went our Theatre Adventure fall semester, which culminated with the characters strutting down the catwalk during our fall fashion show, Putting on Our Finery.

Now this assortment of characters has inspired a story, an original Theatre Adventure play, Enchantment.

A Royal Cook, Pirates, the Queen of England, Frank Sinatra, Wonder Woman, Rhinestone Cowboys, Motorcycle Mamas, a Mayor, Disc Jockeys, and a Movie Director are a few of the characters that will embody the show’s message: “all are welcome at the table.” And at that table, in the spirit of improvisational theater, all offers are accepted.

Theatre Adventure actors create theater that turns traditional roles upside down, presenting a fresh take on familiar stories. Our actors challenge audiences to open their thinking and in the process of doing so, delight in the unexpected. This is inclusive theater at its best!
