The Jungle Book
presented by Theatre Adventure
Mowgli, the man-cub, defies all odds in the jungles of India amongst many different animals, some friendly, others not so friendly.
Theatre Adventure has created an original adaptation from Kipling’s 100+ year old original, emphasizing themes of family, home, and acceptance.
Audiences will believe that they are in the jungles of India during this original adaptation of Kipling’s well-known work written in 1894 in Brattleboro.
Indian music, inventive costuming, creative movement, skillful acting, and masterful use of space and lights will transform the Main Hall of the West Village Meeting House into an environment that will look, sound, and feel like India. This is the power of theater-- to take us to imagined and unimagined places.
A giant snake, Kaa, will slowly wrap his body around a tree while climbing to the top. A wild group of monkeys will capture Mowgli the man-cub! And then Bhagheera and Baloo will rescue their friend Mowgli.
Theatre Adventure actors create theater that turns traditional roles upside down, presents a fresh take on familiar stories, and challenges audiences to open their thinking and in the process of doing so, delight in the unexpected. Inclusive theater at its best!
