SAT, MAY 12

11:00 – 1:00 ROBIN FAWCETT Mask
The neutral mask is paradoxical, it both conceals and reveals, it confines and frees, it fixes and allows transformation.  Throughout time and across cultures, humans have used the mask to explore and release more of their expressive power.  Participants in this workshop will do the exact same thing, through exercises and fascinating physical improvisation.

1:00 -1:45   Lunch

2:00 – 4:00   JEN MOYSE & PAULA LAVENDAR Flash mob dance and Sign
We will create a hip-hop dance routine with elements of sign language built in to the choreography.  This creation will be performed as a flash mob event at a (secret) future date.

4:00 – 6:00 BRENT AND MAYA MCCOY Mime
Being a great clown requires thinking in the moment while remaining committed to a character.  This class will bring focus to the breath and intention of a performer as he or she embarks on simple objectives through energizing group games, simple mime exercises, and independent experimentation.

6:00 – 7:00   Dinner

7:00 – 9:00 JODI CLARK Hand to Hand Fight Combat
Learn the basics of stage fighting - punches, grabs, slaps, chokes and other moves – while cultivating safety and technique. Students will discover how to bring "snap" to any kind of fight scene.  No previous experience required; wear clothing for movement.

10:00 – 12:30 DAVID VANN Technique

This workshop will explore approaches to acting using Brecht's Epic Theatre technique of Alienation - creating the "mask" and "gestus" which reveals inner truths of character and story-telling through the external appearance of Attitude!

2:00 – 4:00 Auditions for TITUS ANDRONICUS
Prepare a short Shakespeare verse monologue to perform. Be prepared to discuss the piece - stand by for the possibility that we might want to workshop some of the passages! Also note - gender blind casting in operation!!
