Theatre Adventure Presents
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM
Shakespeare is alive and well with the Theatre Adventure Thursday Troupe! Last year’s foray with Romeo and Juliet afforded tremendous opportunities to begin the great adventure of learning about the famous Bard and his rhythmic language as well as his outrageous storylines with complicated relationships and plot twists.
This year’s production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream promises to be an unforgettable experience for audiences. The actors have embraced their characters from “the inside out.” Egeus embodies the emotions of a father who feels betrayed by his daughter Hermia. In contrast, Hermia presents two distinct sides---as the headstrong daughter standing up to her father and the young woman hopelessly in love with Lysander.
Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, heads the Court with wisdom as well as sympathy toward Hermia’s dilemma. Demetrius, played by three actors, also presents various conflicting emotions---as the “chosen one” by Egeus of which he is proud, but also by the persistent Helena, of which he barely tolerates. Bottom, played by two actors skillfully uses pantomime as the clown of the story. And of course, Puck, Oberon, Titania, and several other fairies, bring to the story magic, whimsy, and power of another sort.
Outstanding performances by all of the actors in glorious costumes create a theatrical production that highlights the strengths and talents of the dedicated Theatre Adventure actors. Inclusive theatre is alive and well in Southern Vermont!
