David Vann

David Vann

David worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).  He worked as a clown (with pictures to prove it!) then worked as an actor, touring and in repertory.  David directed for many years, and now teaches and directs at the Birmingham School of Acting in Birmingham, which is one of the UK's largest vocational Drama Schools.

Stephen met David on a trip to England in 2004 and invited him to help with NEYT's summer Shakespeare camps.

David says "I feel very privileged that the kids who were over in England doing Lear took such a shine to me, and that they wanted me to come over to Brattleboro.  Knowing how to communicate in words, to be able to look people in the eye and speak from the heart, is one of the most important skills for young people to acquire, and any drama based activity which enables them to do that must be supported.  This, alongside teaching teamwork and respect, is one of NEYT's greatest strengths and it is very important to me that I am part of that."
