Hi. I'm Moriah, and I have been with NEYT for six years now. I moved to Brattleboro in the summer before sixth grade, and auditioned for my first show that January. From then on, NEYT has been a huge part of my life. This incredible place has provided me with invaluable training in the theater arts. I have studied Shakespeare, scene work, monologues, dance, singing and improv comedy. I have also had the opportunity to stage manage, costume, teach classes and co-direct plays. We are all treated as professionals here, and I feel that I have been so prepared for the further study and performance of acting that I wish to pursue. But am also so grateful for the other skills NEYT has gifted me with. Through the work of countless productions and classes, I have not only learned such life skills as time management and organization, but also gained a deeper understanding of empathy, collaboration, patience, listening, bravery and honesty. I simply cannot express to you how much of a family we are. There is something so amazing about working so intensely on the simple task of telling a story. Everyone here is so passionate, from the directors and office staff, to alumni and little fifth graders who have only just discovered this place. My fellow actors and I have all taken so many journeys together throughout childhood and into our high school years as we continue to push ourselves and grow. I am so connected to everyone I work with here. They are my dearest friends and family. As a child, I longed for a place were I could feel challenged, supported, and accepted while pursuing what I love most. A place where people have dance offs, sit in corners wearing wigs and pretending to have tea-parties, make up "authentic" norwegian songs and folk dances, and frequently engage in 15 minute jam sessions. With NEYT I have filled this tall order, and found so much more. I know that it will be an important part of my life for many, many years to come.

Hi! my name is Moriah and I have been with NEYT for almost 2 years now. I've been acting since I was little but I've moved a lot since then and so have done shows with a couple different theaters. NEYT is by far the best. I have so much fun every time I do a show but I also learn many new things, not just about acting but about every other part of theater. I have also made so many amazing frienships here. Everyone is so understanding of each other and we are all on the same page about a lot of stuff. I find it so easy to get a long with everyone at NEYT and love being with them on and off stage. My first show was Princess Willow and the King of Thieves which I auditioned for shortly after I moved to the brat. area. I played one of the the mane charachters' nurse and a siren. Since then I have been in Much Ado About Nothing as the court musician, Sound of Music as the house keeper, The Miracle Worker as Helen Keller, Oliver! as the count clerk and a courus member and am now doing rehearsals for The Blind King and the Sleeping Queen. I have also done two melodrama camp plays, Deadwood Dick and Murder by Indecision. I am home schooled which is lucky because I have a lot of freedom around when I can go to the theater. I don't have to wait till after school to rehearse or do homework after a performance or late rehearsal. I am so thankful for this because it makes it easier for me to do what I love. When I'm not doing theater or school assignments I like to read, write, listen to music and fool around with my many siblings.
